The architectural legacy of Barcelona’s new Cotton House Hotel in the district of Eixample is the bate for the luxury traveler.

Occupying the former Fundación Textil Algodonera, Catalonia’s former textile mill, the 83-room property celebrates the period splendors of its setting.   The landmark property, designed by Catalan architect Elies Rogent with Interior design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán, features elegant proportions enhanced by rich decorative details.  The property setting is highlighted by contemporary furnishings and lighting against original floors, wood paneling and ceiling frescoes.  The aim was to revitalise the property and keep a sense of the tradition of the building’s neoclassical character.

The public spaces include a dramatic mirrored reception, an octagonal hall leading to two distinctive staircases, and a bar-restaurant called Batuar. The guest rooms are more understated, decorated in warm tones. A surprise feature is the rooftop pool terrace with a view of the Sagrada Família.
